The word lists are in compressed zip format so a zip unarchive utily will be needed to unpack the files. Dr Dolch was an educator and researcher of English Pedagogy who published a basic English Language word list in the 1950's. His list of 220 words represents more than half the words used in typical non-technical English written documents. The word list is useful for English Language learners.
